30,000 Vehicles Reach Shimla Within 2 Days Amid Rising Temperature

Today’s generation can hardly face high temperatures. Plus they fear a potential lockdown again. This could be the reason behind the high footfall in Shimla.

Shimla, a well-known hill station in the Himachal Pradesh state of northern India, experienced a sudden inflow of over 30,000 automobiles in just two days as travelers flocked to the town in search of relief from the hot, humid plains.

The increase in tourist traffic reportedly led to traffic congestion and other related problems, which spurred the local authorities to take action.

To regulate the flow of vehicles and guarantee that COVID-19 regulations are being followed, the police have set up checkpoints at several places where people enter the town.

Shimla is a well-liked tourist destination recognized for its scenic beauty, agreeable climate, and colonial-era architecture, so the rapid rise in visitors is not unexpected.

The town’s infrastructure is not set up to handle such a high volume of vehicles, therefore there are concerns about the consequences of the traffic spike on it.

The Himachal Pradesh government is imposing a ban on tourist vehicles entering Shimla on weekends and public holidays in order to allay these concerns.

The restriction will last until further notice. The government has additionally asked visitors to stay away from the town and to adhere to COVID-19 regulations.

Shimla’s unexpected increase in tourist traffic is a reflection of a bigger trend in India, where more and more people are choosing to vacation in hill stations and other locations away from the heat and humidity of the plains.

The COVID-19 pandemic has prompted people to alter their travel plans and look for locations that are viewed as safer, which has intensified this tendency.

Even though Shimla’s economy has benefited from the rise in tourism, the town’s infrastructure and administration are in need of improvement if it is to handle the additional traffic without endangering the safety and wellbeing of its citizens and visitors.
